ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP: Creation Care Tips

for the October 30/31 Bulletin

Why do Catholics need to care about the coming COP26, the U.N. climate change summit beginning October 31? "From a Catholic point of view, I think if we care about God's Earth, if we care about creation, if we care about the poor, if we care about our children, and if we care about the unborn children of today, we need to be engaged with this," said Lorna Gold, board chair of the Laudato Si' Movement, who has attended previous climate summits. "We need to pray about it. We need to raise our voices about it," she said, "and we need to become informed, and we need to also change our individual and community behavior."

Mary Immaculate, our Mother and our Patroness,
we ask you to intercede for us with your Son,
as you did at the wedding in Cana.

Pray for us, loving Mother,
and gain for our diocese, our nation and our world,
for our families and loved ones,
the protection of your Maternal mantle from this dreaded virus.

In this time of trial and testing,
teach all of us to love one another and to be patient and kind.
Help us to bring the peace and healing Presence of Jesus to our land and to our hearts.

We come to you with confidence,
knowing that you are our compassionate mother,
health of the sick and cause of our joy.
Keep us in the embrace of your arms,
Help us always to know the love of your Son, Jesus our Lord.

AMEN.

PREPARATION FOR TOTAL CONSECRATION TO JESUS CHRIST THROUGH MARY ACCORDING TO ST. LOUIS DE MONTFORT: Zoom gatherings for all women

Christian life is nothing less than a participation in the life of Jesus and devotion to our Lady is at the core. This consecration is a giving of ourselves to Jesus through Mary’s maternal care. St. Louis De Montfort, when writing about Consecration to Jesus through Mary, was talking about a way of life. It is not a process that we go through and then it is over.

St. John Paul II, writes” ….we might even say that Christ himself appoints his Mother to those who strive to know and to love him, as he did on Calvary with his disciple John.” It has been written that St. Pope John Paul II’s esteem for the fruits of the spirituality of consecration he learned from St. Louis de Montfort was so great that he made St. Louis ‘Totus Tuus (I am all yours) his papal motto.

Using the book: “Preparation for Total Consecration to Jesus Christ Through Mary” by Fr. Hugh Gillispie, SMM
