PAULINE JARICOT, POPE’S MISSION SOCIETY FOUNDRESS, BEATIFIED MAY 22

Pauline Marie Jaricot (1799-1862), foundress of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith (whose first collection supported the Church in the United States), was beatified on May 22, 2022, in her birthplace, Lyon, France, following a miracle attributed to her intercession. This event takes place during the 200th anniversary year for the Society for the Propagation of the Faith.

The miracle dates to May 2012, when 3 ½ year old Mayline Tran, a little girl from Lyon, choked at a family dinner was declared brain dead by physicians.  A large network prayed a novena for the intercession of Pauline Jaricot in Maylines’s recovery. In July 2012, Mayline began to come back to life, despite doctors’ prognoses of certain death.  Mayline is now completely recovered– a miracle!

There is a film titled Heart of a Missionary: The Story of Pauline Jaricot available on our diocese’ Mission Office webpage.

SAFE ENVIRONMENT CORNER: Did you know? ...

Did You Know…child molesters come from all economic backgrounds, geographic areas and include every ethnicity, race and creed. The sole characteristic all child molesters share is having thoughts about being sexual with children and acting on those thoughts. Contrary to “Stranger Danger" warnings, child molesters are rarely strangers. At least 90% of sexually abused children are abused by someone the child and/or family know, someone in the child’s immediate or extended family, or someone close to the family. ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP: Creation Care Tips

for the June 11/12 Bulletin

During the recent Laudato Si’ Week 2022, that marked the seventh anniversary of Pope Francis’ landmark encyclical on creation care, the Office of Youth Ministry issued a NO DISPOSABLE CHALLENGE to young people. The challenge was to use no single-use plastic items for the week-long celebration. As we look forward to lots of picnics and family gatherings, why not take up this challenge and reduce those single use plastics this summer by replacing them with reusable items? More info. see Laudato Si Week 2022 Activities

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP: Creation Care Tips

for the June 18/19 Bulletin

Who doesn’t enjoy time by the water in the summer? Just being beside a river, a lake, or any running water can be soothing to our whole being. Our Catholic faith is immersed in the symbol of water as cleansing and renewing. As we enjoy the gift of water, let’s become more aware of how we can express our gratitude by using only what we need and refrain from items that pollution it.

ON OUR KNEES PRAYER CAMPAIGN: United in prayer for the Dobbs Supreme Court Case

October 22 - June 22 all are asked to pray for the protection of life in our nation.

Background: January 22, 1973: Roe v Wade Supreme Court decision began the era of abortion on demand in the USA.
• 2018: Mississippi passed a law protecting unborn children after 15 weeks of gestation, when the baby has a heartbeat, eyes that open, ears that hear, and can move and kick. The law was challenged and the case, known as Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Health Organization, is being heard by the Supreme Court.
• Dobbs v Jackson is a landmark case that could potentially overturn the decision of Roe v Wade. The possibility for future laws protecting the unborn hangs in the balance.
• December 1, 2021: oral arguments for the case were heard. A decision is expected in June 2022. More information at www.prayfordobbs.com

WORLD DAY OF PRAYER FOR THE SANCTIFICATION OF PRIESTS, JUNE 24, 2022: All pastors, catechists, principals

World Day for the Sanctification of Priests takes place every year on the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. This day is celebrated on Friday, June 24, 2022. This day is all about praying for your priest or priests in your parish and his sanctification, that is, his/their holiness! Every day our priests pray for us and our intentions at they preside over Mass, hear confessions, baptize our children or bury our loved ones. Our priests need our prayers, and you should tell them that you are praying for them. You never know what your parish priest or pastor is going through, sacrificing out of love for his parishioners.

Mass Announcement
Today is the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and World Priest Day, which is a day set aside to pray for priests, so we encourage each of you to pray in a special way today for Father______________ that he is strengthened and renewed each day as he serves as a priest of Jesus Christ.
Prayers of the Faithful
For Father_______, our (pastor, associate pastor) in his ministry to the People of (parish name), that the Holy Spirit will come down upon him and light his heart anew for the priesthood, we pray to the Lord.
That we may never take the presence of our priests for granted, as we cherish the celebration of the Mass and are nourished by the Eucharist, we pray to the Lord.

Prayer for Bulletin
Sacred Heart of Jesus, protect our priest_____in the midst of his work at our parish______________. Comfort him in his afflictions. Give him health of body, assistance in his temporal needs, and your blessing on all that he does.
