NFP AWARENESS WEEK JULY 25-31

NFP Awareness Week, an annual educational campaign of the USCCB, invites everyone to discover the wise design of God for sexuality and married love. The Natural Family Planning Office is mailing posters and other materials to all parishes; additional copies upon request.

"TO HAVE, TO HOLD, TO HONOR." The theme for National NFP Awareness Week, July 25-31, invites all to discover how Natural Family Planning supports God's gifts of love and life in marriage. In THE JOY OF LOVE (AL, 222), Pope Francis specifically calls attention to these healthy, effective, morally acceptable, and truly organic approaches to family planning. He writes, "They are to be promoted, since these methods respect the bodies of the spouses, encourage tenderness between them, and favor the education of an authentic freedom." To hear from couples who know from experience that this is true, go to https://www.rcdony.org/nfp.html

To learn more, please contact the NFP Office, apietropaoli@rcdony.org or at 518-483-0459.

SAFE ENVIRONMENT CORNER: Did you know?

Did You Know… traffickers find victims through social networking and the internet, but they also recruit at shopping malls, bus/train stations, in neighborhoods, at popular teenage hangouts, and even at schools. Traffickers often use false promises of love, shelter, protection, money, and employment to recruit victims. To get help, call the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-888-373-7888.

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP:

for the July 3/4 Bulletin

Take some moments to inhale and exhale deeply for a while, as you begin to allow for stillness to take place within your mind and body. Resting within your landscape of inner quiet, notice what lives and what sounds fill the space around you. In this space where all things live and breathe, feel how your breath connects you to all things. Offer it up on gratitude and praise for this world where all things, in stillness and in movement, are sustained by the breath of God. (Sisters of St. Joseph Carondelet)

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP:

for the July 10/11 Bulletin

Summer Leisure… Take time for tuning into the environment around you. Find a comfortable position outside, close your eyes for a few moments and allow your body to relax. Then open your eyes and notice what you see around you. Imagine that you are seeing the trees, plants, animals, and everything that makes up the world around you for the first time. Appreciate their colors, their shapes, the movement and the stillness surrounding you. Give thanks for the gift of sight and the spectacular way your vision connects you with the world within you and around you. (Sisters of St. Joseph Carondelet)

Mary Immaculate, our Mother and our Patroness,
we ask you to intercede for us with your Son,
as you did at the wedding in Cana.

Pray for us, loving Mother,
and gain for our diocese, our nation and our world,
for our families and loved ones,
the protection of your Maternal mantle from this dreaded virus.

In this time of trial and testing,
teach all of us to love one another and to be patient and kind.
Help us to bring the peace and healing Presence of Jesus to our land and to our hearts.

We come to you with confidence,
knowing that you are our compassionate mother,
health of the sick and cause of our joy.
Keep us in the embrace of your arms,
Help us always to know the love of your Son, Jesus our Lord.

AMEN.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS: 73rd Annual Pilgrimage - St. Anne 's Shrine, Isle LaMotte

On Sunday, July 18th, Knights of Columbus from throughout the Diocese of Ogdensburg will participate in their 73rd annual pilgrimage to St. Anne’s Shrine in Isle LaMotte, Vermont. Most Reverend Terry A. LaValley will celebrate mass at 12:15 p.m. Knights and their families can enjoy lunch in the shrine cafeteria or they can bring a lunch to enjoy on the shrine’s beautiful grounds.

St. Anne’s Shrine is located on the shores of Lake Champlain, only a few miles from the Rouses Point Bridge.  The Shrine’s religious history began in 1666 when the French erected a fort and chapel. The chapel was blessed in 1893, and a beautiful statue of St. Anne, the mother of Mary, was erected.

For more information, please call Pilgrimage Coordinator Peter Keenan at 518-643-9241.

SEEKING HOUSE DIRECTOR AND COMMUNITY: Our Lady of the Adirondacks House of Prayer

Have you ever wished you could live in community with others who love God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit? Are you someone who loves Mary, are excited by the lives of the saints, who knows that building the kingdom means now but are not quite sure how you are called? Are you someone who is gentle and trustworthy, not given to addictions or vice, hard-working and still active… someone who trusts God in all things, is wise in the things that are important, and takes great joy in the Roman Catholic faith? Perhaps you or someone you know would be a good resident at Our Lady of the Adirondacks House of Prayer, located in Ellenburg Center, NY. Or perhaps you are already part of a small community which is looking for a home and a mission. Come and visit us and see if the contemplative-active life is for you. A word of caution... the House of Prayer is very rural and isolated especially in the winter. As of the present moment, there is no community living there, but the Board of Directors is actively looking for 3-5 people, including a House Director, to live on its premises and help keep this Marian treasure vibrant within the North Country for all. Please call 518-534-9976 (Sarah) or 518-518-578-6949 (Jeanette) for more information.
