NFP AWARENESS WEEK JULY 24-30, 2022: Called to the Joy of Love
NFP Awareness Week, an annual educational campaign of the USCCB, invites everyone to discover the wise design of God for sexuality and married love. The Natural Family Planning Office mails posters and educational materials to all parishes; additional copies upon request.  Download additional bulletin inserts and bulletin briefs and homily helps by clicking the links.

"CALLED TO THE JOY OF LOVE." This theme for National NFP Awareness Week , July 24-30, invites all to discover how Natural Family Planning supports God's gifts of love and life in marriage. In THE JOY OF LOVE (AL, 222), Pope Francis specifically calls attention to these healthy, effective, morally acceptable, and truly organic approaches to family planning. He writes, "They are to be promoted, since these methods respect the bodies of the spouses, encourage tenderness between them, and favor the education of an authentic freedom." To hear from couples who know from experience that this is true, go to www.rcdony.org/nfp. To learn more, please contact the NFP Office, apietropaoli@rcdony.org or at 518-483-0459.

SAFE ENVIRONMENT CORNER: Did you know? ...

Did You Know…the most common lure used by child molesters is the Affection Lure. It is used both offline and online to exploit unsuspecting youngsters in need of love and attention. Most victims of abuse are befriended and “groomed” over a period of hours, days, weeks, months or years. Child molesters have acknowledged that when there’s a physically or emotionally absent parent in the picture, it makes the child more vulnerable to grooming and abuse. For more information, visit A Profile of the Child Molester and Grooming Techniques | Child Lures® Prevention (childluresprevention.com).

PLANNED GIVING: Give Your House and Continue to Live There

You may want to make a major gift to our parish. Why not consider real estate? This is called a life estate gift. This simply means that you give a piece of real estate, such as your residence, to our parish, obtain a charitable income tax deduction and retrain the right to live there as long as you want. This arrangement removes the property from your estate and relieves your executor from having to dispose of your home at your death. For more information, contact Scott Lalone at the Diocese at 315-393-2920 or Email slalone@rcdony.org.

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP: Creation Care Tips

for the July 2/3 Bulletin

With gas prices at a record high, this is the year to seriously consider reducing the amount of lawn that you mow. It is not difficult to convert unmowed strips of ground around your property into wildflower gardens, raspberry/blackberry thickets or young forestlands. Using less gasoline and increasing the amount of photosynthesis in an area is great for our common home.

ON OUR KNEES PRAYER CAMPAIGN: United in prayer for the Dobbs Supreme Court Case

October 22 - June 22 all are asked to pray for the protection of life in our nation.

Background: January 22, 1973: Roe v Wade Supreme Court decision began the era of abortion on demand in the USA.
• 2018: Mississippi passed a law protecting unborn children after 15 weeks of gestation, when the baby has a heartbeat, eyes that open, ears that hear, and can move and kick. The law was challenged and the case, known as Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Health Organization, is being heard by the Supreme Court.
• Dobbs v Jackson is a landmark case that could potentially overturn the decision of Roe v Wade. The possibility for future laws protecting the unborn hangs in the balance.
• December 1, 2021: oral arguments for the case were heard. A decision is expected in June 2022. More information at www.prayfordobbs.com
