NFP AWARENESS WEEK JULY 25-31
NFP Awareness Week, an annual educational campaign of the USCCB, invites everyone to discover the wise design of God for sexuality and married love. The Natural Family Planning Office is mailing posters and other materials to all parishes; additional copies upon request.
"TO HAVE, TO HOLD, TO HONOR." The theme for National NFP Awareness Week, July 25-31, invites all to discover how Natural Family Planning supports God's gifts of love and life in marriage. In THE JOY OF LOVE (AL, 222), Pope Francis specifically calls attention to these healthy, effective, morally acceptable, and truly organic approaches to family planning. He writes, "They are to be promoted, since these methods respect the bodies of the spouses, encourage tenderness between them, and favor the education of an authentic freedom." To hear from couples who know from experience that this is true, go to https://www.rcdony.org/nfp.html
To learn more, please contact the NFP Office, apietropaoli@rcdony.org or at 518-483-0459.

Additional resources for liturgy are available from the USCCB Natural Family Planning Program: Suggested Intercessions for Prayer of the Faithful and Homily Notes: as well as additional bulletin announcements and downloadable bulletin inserts.

How blessed we are to have the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist! The very Body and Blood of the Lord is given to us to be our “food for the journey." The more we appreciate and love this special gift from God, the closer we are to the Lord and to one another as members of the Body of Christ.
Come join us exploring the Church’s teaching on the Real Presence in the Eucharist. Come see what the Bible has to say about this teaching, what the Church Fathers believed, and why each of us is so blessed by the Real Presence.
Deacon Bill O’Brien will be presenting this 6-week series on the Holy Eucharist called “PRESENCE: The Mystery of the Eucharist." It will begin on August 4th at both 9:30 AM OR 6:30 PM (whichever is convenient for you) each Wednesday for 6 weeks. Our sessions will be held in Brzana Hall, the lower Cathedral. Workbooks will be provided. Please sign up by emailing Deacon Bill @ billob315@gmail.com by July 25th to ensure you'll have a workbook for the study. You can pick up your workbooks after all Masses on the weekend of July 31/Aug 1.
“How holy this feast, in which Christ is our food, His passion is recalled, grace fills our hearts and we receive a pledge of the glory to come!”

PLANNED GIVING: MEMORARE LEGACY SOCIETY
Have you already or have been thinking about leaving a legacy by designating a portion of your assets to pass at death to the Diocese of Ogdensburg, your parish or school or diocesan program or organization? The Memorare Legacy Society honors and recognizes the generosity and vision of those who have chosen to leave a legacy to the Diocese of Ogdensburg through estate or deferred gifts. Members of this society are those who have informed the Diocese of a planned gift that, in the future, will benefit the Diocese of Ogdensburg or any of its parishes or programs. This ensures a continuous commitment of care to their Church, to the Church’s vision and to the charitable works that flow from her missions through their thoughtful planned gift. An annual Mass and luncheon is held each year for Memorare Society members with Bishop LaValley. For more information on the Memorare Legacy Society, contact: Scott Lalone, Executive Director, Development Office 393-2920, slalone@rcdony.org.

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP:
for the July 24/25 Bulletin
Ignatian spirituality encourages us to find God everywhere. Pope Francis says, “There is a mystical meaning to be found in a leaf, in a mountain trail, in a dewdrop, in a poor person’s face." (#233) Suggestion: take a small leaf and stay with it until you catch onto its connectedness with the one who made and sustains it.
NEW
ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP:
for the July 31/ August 1 Bulletin
“The Eucharist is a source of light and motivation for our concerns for the environment, directing us to be stewards of creation.” (Laudato Si # 64) What we love we will care for. When we see how the Eucharist embodies Christ and all of creation, we then become more gentle and respectful of all that exists. What action have you taken today to imitate God’s loving goodness in caring for planet earth? Taken from Finding God in a Leaf: The Mysticism of Laudato Si by Brian Grogan, SJ

Mary Immaculate, our Mother and our Patroness,
we ask you to intercede for us with your Son,
as you did at the wedding in Cana.
Pray for us, loving Mother,
and gain for our diocese, our nation and our world,
for our families and loved ones,
the protection of your Maternal mantle from this dreaded virus.
In this time of trial and testing,
teach all of us to love one another and to be patient and kind.
Help us to bring the peace and healing Presence of Jesus to our land and to our hearts.
We come to you with confidence,
knowing that you are our compassionate mother,
health of the sick and cause of our joy.
Keep us in the embrace of your arms,
Help us always to know the love of your Son, Jesus our Lord.
AMEN.

SEEKING HOUSE DIRECTOR AND COMMUNITY: Our Lady of the Adirondacks House of Prayer
Have you ever wished you could live in community with others who love God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit? Are you someone who loves Mary, are excited by the lives of the saints, who knows that building the kingdom means now but are not quite sure how you are called? Are you someone who is gentle and trustworthy, not given to addictions or vice, hard-working and still active… someone who trusts God in all things, is wise in the things that are important, and takes great joy in the Roman Catholic faith? Perhaps you or someone you know would be a good resident at Our Lady of the Adirondacks House of Prayer, located in Ellenburg Center, NY. Or perhaps you are already part of a small community which is looking for a home and a mission. Come and visit us and see if the contemplative-active life is for you. A word of caution... the House of Prayer is very rural and isolated especially in the winter. As of the present moment, there is no community living there, but the Board of Directors is actively looking for 3-5 people, including a House Director, to live on its premises and help keep this Marian treasure vibrant within the North Country for all. Please call 518-534-9976 (Sarah) or 518-518-578-6949 (Jeanette) for more information.
