SERIOUSLY GOD: A Parish Book Study, Waddington, NY and Zoom

It’s a book study, message series, and spiritual campaign focused on the book Seriously, God? Making Sense of Life Not Making Sense.

The past few years has brought suffering, loss, and loneliness to many—family, friends, and fellow parishioners. You may be asking, “Where is God in all of this?” “Why do I feel that my prayers are unanswered?” Or, “How can there even be a God with all of the pain and suffering in the world?

We know these experiences can have a profound impact on your faith and the life of the parish community. We invite you to come together with your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ to explore these questions and to grow in faith.

For those in Madrid or Waddington, books are available at the Church entrances.

SAFE ENVIRONMENT CORNER: Did you know? ...

Did You Know…boundaries can be viewed as imaginary lines that separate one person from another. They promote our sense of “self” and help us to perverse personal integrity while creating a framework for our relationships. Boundaries can be physical, emotional, behavioral, verbal and spiritual. Boundaries differ depending on the relationship; boundaries between married couples are different from those between friends, and boundaries between children and parents are different from those between students, and teachers or coaches.

For more information, or to register for VIRTUS training, contact the Diocesan Safe Environment Office at (315) 393-2920.

Overwhelmed at times with what to action(s) to take to better care for our "common home?" In prayer consider: What brings tears to my heart when I listen to "the cries of the earth?" Mary Immaculate, our Mother and our Patroness,
we ask you to intercede for us with your Son,
as you did at the wedding in Cana.

Pray for us, loving Mother,
and gain for our diocese, our nation and our world,
for our families and loved ones,
the protection of your Maternal mantle from this dreaded virus.

In this time of trial and testing,
teach all of us to love one another and to be patient and kind.
Help us to bring the peace and healing Presence of Jesus to our land and to our hearts.

We come to you with confidence,
knowing that you are our compassionate mother,
health of the sick and cause of our joy.
Keep us in the embrace of your arms,
Help us always to know the love of your Son, Jesus our Lord.

AMEN.

ON OUR KNEES PRAYER CAMPAIGN: United in prayer for the Dobbs Supreme Court Case

October 22 - June 22 all are asked to pray for the protection of life in our nation.

Background: January 22, 1973: Roe v Wade Supreme Court decision began the era of abortion on demand in the USA.
• 2018: Mississippi passed a law protecting unborn children after 15 weeks of gestation, when the baby has a heartbeat, eyes that open, ears that hear, and can move and kick. The law was challenged and the case, known as Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Health Organization, is being heard by the Supreme Court.
• Dobbs v Jackson is a landmark case that could potentially overturn the decision of Roe v Wade. The possibility for future laws protecting the unborn hangs in the balance.
• December 1, 2021: oral arguments for the case were heard. A decision is expected in June 2022. More information at www.prayfordobbs.com
