UPDATE: CHANGED TO A ONE-DAY VIRTUAL RETREAT
NEW YORK STATE DISCERNMENT RETREAT: January 2
Please consider this opportunity for men 18 years old and 35 to attend this year’s Virtual Winter Discernment Retreat. This retreat can assist in discerning a call to priesthood. Every year, the dioceses in New York State, predominantly the upstate ones, participate in a discernment retreat.
Due to the uptick in Covid cases in our area the in-person discernment retreat for men 18+ has been changed to a virtual experience. While in-person is preferred, a shorter, virtual experience has its own benefit of being a little less intimidating, and a one-day experience might fit better into the calendar of busy individuals, including those home from college. The Agenda can be downloaded HERE
These is no cost to the parish or participants. Registration deadline is Friday, December 31st. RSVP for the Retreat by Tuesday, December 31 by emailing vocation@syrdio.org in order to receive the zoom information.

Mary Immaculate, our Mother and our Patroness,
we ask you to intercede for us with your Son,
as you did at the wedding in Cana.
Pray for us, loving Mother,
and gain for our diocese, our nation and our world,
for our families and loved ones,
the protection of your Maternal mantle from this dreaded virus.
In this time of trial and testing,
teach all of us to love one another and to be patient and kind.
Help us to bring the peace and healing Presence of Jesus to our land and to our hearts.
We come to you with confidence,
knowing that you are our compassionate mother,
health of the sick and cause of our joy.
Keep us in the embrace of your arms,
Help us always to know the love of your Son, Jesus our Lord.
AMEN.

ON OUR KNEES PRAYER CAMPAIGN: United in prayer for the Dobbs Supreme Court Case
October 22 - June 22 all are asked to pray for the protection of life in our nation.
Background: January 22, 1973: Roe v Wade Supreme Court decision began the era of abortion on demand in the USA.
• 2018: Mississippi passed a law protecting unborn children after 15 weeks of gestation, when the baby has a heartbeat, eyes that open, ears that hear, and can move and kick. The law was challenged and the case, known as Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Health Organization, is being heard by the Supreme Court.
• Dobbs v Jackson is a landmark case that could potentially overturn the decision of Roe v Wade. The possibility for future laws protecting the unborn hangs in the balance.
• December 1, 2021: oral arguments for the case were heard. A decision is expected in June 2022. More information at www.prayfordobbs.com
