SAFE ENVIRONMENT CORNER: Did you know? ...

Did you know…taking away internet access because a child has a made a mistake online rarely solves the problem. Taking away access in our current environment would likely do far more harm than good. Beyond affecting a child’s ability to complete distance-learning tasks, it would all but completely isolate them from friends and other family; a support system that is essential right now. If you must, limit access (shorter window for digital socializing, gaming, restricted use to certain public areas of the house, etc.) rather than removing it entirely.

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP:

(for the September 19/20 Bulletin)

A Tip for celebrating the JUBILEE OF THE EARTH, this Year’s theme for the Season of Creation (Sept.1-Oct. 4): Jubilee is a time for renewing. When enjoying the taste of fresh veggies and fruits of the season, think of the preciousness of the soil, water and sun that nurtured their growth and the hands that cared for them and brought them to your table. This “moment of blessing,” however brief, is a reminder of interconnectedness with all life and our total marvelous dependence on God. (#227)

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP:

(for the September 26/27 Bulletin)

A Tip for celebrating the Jubilee of the Earth, the theme for this year’s Season of Creation (Sept. 4 –Oct. 4): Jubilee is a time for repairing. As we witness the volume of trash generated in America, Dumpsters.com reports that nearly 20% of trash comes from plastics, like bags, packaging, disposable beverage containers, etc. What’s in your trash?? Take a few minutes this week and check to see what is in your trash can before you pay for it to be taken to a landfill. What is one way you could repair the damage to our "common home" by reducing the amount of plastics in the trash?

WADDINGTON, NY/ZOOM  - VIRTUAL ADULT FAITH FORMATION: What Happens When We Die
September 16, 23, 30, October 7, 14, at 7 pm via Zoom

The Last Things: Judgement, heaven, hell, purgatory.

These are all teachings of our faith. It’s important for us to get a good grasp on what we believe. Knowing that what we believe must be rooted in scripture and not in popular beliefs. Msgr. Aucoin is offering a series of sessions via ZOOM on what we call in Catholic teachings "The Last Things." With the assistance of videos from Bishop Barron, we will offer five sessions with these topics:

• What will happen when we die?
• Does God really send people to Hell?
• Why Purgatory is actually a good thing…
• What can we know about angels?
• What is the goal of Christianity?

This program will be offered online via Zoom. The meetings will be on 5 Wednesdays, September 16, 23, 30, October 7, 14, at 7 pm. Each session will be no more than one hour. If you are interested in participating, you will need to register email Msgr Aucoin at pastor@mwcatholics.org

Mary Immaculate, our Mother and our Patroness,
we ask you to intercede for us with your Son,
as you did at the wedding in Cana.

Pray for us, loving Mother,
and gain for our diocese, our nation and our world,
for our families and loved ones,
the protection of your Maternal mantle from this dreaded virus.

In this time of trial and testing,
teach all of us to love one another and to be patient and kind.
Help us to bring the peace and healing Presence of Jesus to our land and to our hearts.

We come to you with confidence,
knowing that you are our compassionate mother,
health of the sick and cause of our joy.
Keep us in the embrace of your arms,
Help us always to know the love of your Son, Jesus our Lord.

AMEN.

200629 census2

COMPLETE THE 2020 CENSUS: respond now.

It is important to complete the census.  Census results affect planning and funding for education—including programs such as Head Start, Pell Grants, school lunches, rural education, adult education, and grants for preschool special education; planning and funding for infrastructure—including programs for highway planning and construction, Section 8 housing, federal transit, community development, and rural water and waste disposal systems; planning and funding for employment and training—including programs for vocational rehabilitation state grants, dislocated workers, and American Indian and Alaska Native employment and training; planning and funding for healthcare—including programs such as Medicaid, Medicare Part B, State Children’s Health Insurance, and the prevention and treatment of substance abuse.

A census response is required from every property, including seasonal homes: If you live at multiple places throughout the year, count yourself at the address where you live and sleep most of the time.  If you split your time evenly between two or more places, count yourself where you were staying on April 1, 2020.  However, a census response is required from each and every property.200629 census
