SAFE ENVIRONMENT CORNER: Did you know? ...
Did You Know…Vulnerable adults suffer from sexual abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse, and neglect just as children do. However, only a small percentage of abuse of elderly is sexual. With this population, sexual abuse is not typically due to a sexual fixation or attraction and is usually a tool used to expert power and control in the situation. Financial exploitation is the major form of abuse within this group. The Diocesan Safe Environment Office provides online training to help you learn more about how you can protect vulnerable adults.
