VATICAN RELEASES NEW E-BOOK FOR YOUTH: "Keys to Bioethics" 22 Page Manual

The Dicastery for Laity, Family, and Life has released Keys to Bioethics: A Manual for Youth, a free e-book prepared by the Jérôme Lejeune Foundation. “With this Manual we wish to offer young people around the world a practical and up-to-date tool to answer some of the questions that clutter their minds when faced with the great challenges generated by scientific and technological progress,” said Cardinal Kevin Farrell, the Dicastery’s prefect.

The Manual states that human life begins at fertilization and that IUDs, RU-486, and the morning-after pill can induce abortions—and that the regular birth control pill can have an abortifacient effect. Other topics covered include the contraceptive mentality, genetic screening, reproductive technology, eugenics, stem-cell research, euthanasia, organ donation, and gender. SAFE ENVIRONMENT CORNER: Did you know? ...

Did You Know…the Diocese of Ogdensburg requires all volunteers (adults and minors) to sign a Code of Conduct as part of their safe environment requirements. This is in addition to the criminal background check and safe environment training. Violations of the Code of Conduct are generally considered boundary violations and must be reported to a supervisor. Boundary violations do not necessarily mean abuse has taken place, but they must be investigated with corrective action implemented as appropriate. For information on how you can report misconduct, visit Safe Enviroment (rcdony.org)

PLANNED GIVING: Free Proposal

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP: Creation Care Tips

for the August 20/21Bulletin

What do you think is the greatest contributor to the warming of our planet? The answer given by top scientists and policy makers globally in the book by Paul Hawken entitled Drawdown: The Most Comprehensive Plan Ever Proposed to Reverse Global Warming is refrigeration. When we experience the increased heat these days, our first reaction may be to turn up the air conditioner or climate control thermostat. Yet while that may feel better for the moment, it increases the the overall temperature on the  planet. Suggestion: check the temperature of your cooling mechanism and see if adjusting it a few degrees warmer can still be comfortable. Also check any other cooling machines to see if they can be set higher and still do the job, i.e. refrigerator, freezer.
