NEXT FRIENDSHIP GROUP MEETING: At Home Retreat Opportunity

The next Friendship Group meeting will be held on Thursday, September 14 at 7 p.m. Eastern Time.

Fr. Jonas Verdeflor, OMV will discuss the book Total Consecration through the Mysteries of the Rosary by Fr. Ed Broom, OMV with us and answer your questions.

In his 18th century masterpiece, True Devotion to Mary, St. Louis de Montfort tells us that the quickest, easiest, and most efficacious path to Jesus is through the Blessed Virgin Mary. In her 1917 appearances at Fatima, Mary repeatedly urged us to pray the Rosary daily. Since Mary is the best path to Jesus, Fr. Broom developed this powerful do-it-yourself retreat that culminates in the total consecration to Jesus through Mary by focusing on the Mysteries of the Rosary and the Seven Sorrows of Mary. All it takes is a few minutes daily. In these pages you will be transformed as you grow closer to Our Lord and Our Lady. You will find:

-Scripture readings keyed to each Rosary decade
-Short guided Ignatian-like meditations on each Mystery
-Daily prayers and wise practical steps for fruitful meditation
-How to appreciate the beautiful prayer of the Rosary as never before
-A deeper knowledge and intimate love for Jesus and Mary

If you already have this book, you may start your preparation on August 18 and make your consecration on September 15, the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows. Another possible date to begin is September 3 in order to make your consecration on October 7, Our Lady of the Rosary.

It is recommended that you keep a prayer notebook to write down a few daily notes about your meditation experience.
Fr. Verdeflor also suggests that, if you don't have one already, you should buy a brown scapular to be enrolled by a priest on the day of your consecration.
If you haven't signed up for the Friendship Groups, the link to join is: https://mailchi.mp/sophiainstitute/friendship-groups
Once you have signed up, you will receive updates, including the Zoom link and discussion questions, about a week prior to the meeting.

The book is on sale at sophiainstitute.com

Please contact Mary Beth Bracy at mbracy@sophiainstitute.com with any questions or for more information.

SAFE ENVIRONMENT CORNER: Did you know? ...

Did You Know…approximately 20% of child sexual abuse occurs with children under 5 years of age; 50% with kids between 5-12 years old; and 30% occurs with teens between 13-17 years of age. Parents and guardians can help keep children safe by talking frankly and often to their children about “the birds and the bees.” Child molesters have admitted they are less likely to abuse children who know the proper names for private body parts and have learned basic body safety skills. For more information, contact the Safe Environment Office at (315) 393-2920
