ORGAN RECITAL WITH DOMINIC FIACCO OCTOBER 23 AT 3 PM AT ST. MARY'S CATHEDRAL IN OGDENSBURG: 150th anniversary event
Dominic Fiacco will be giving an organ recital October 23 at 3 pm at Saint Mary’s Cathedral in Ogdensburg as part of the Cathedral parish’s 70th anniversary celebrations and within the context of the Diocese’s 150th anniversary. There is no admission fee. A light reception will follow. Dominic Fiacco‘s curiosity about the organ began when he attended a recital at age 8, after which he was invited to try the organ. Shortly thereafter, he began lessons with Stephen Best, organist, who discovered Dominic’s exceptional talent combining technical virtuosity with highly developed musical sensitivity. He has performed recitals at the Cathedral Church of St. John Divine in New York City and at the Cadet Chapel at West Point, location of the third largest organ in the world, and has a fully booked 2022-2023 season. He owns a German-built pipe organ given to him by an organist in Massachusetts who learned of him by watching several of his videos on YouTube. Dominic began taking piano lessons at the age of 4. He has won multiple prizes in piano competitions. In addition, he has performed multiple times on the Society for New Music’s Rising Stars programs both as an organist and a pianist. Dominic is assistant organist at the Parish Community of St. Leo and St. Ann in Holland Patent, where he plays the 8:45 mass every Sunday. He intends to pursue a career in organ performance.

NATIONAL VOCATION WEEK: All pastors, catechists, principals
Did you know that in our country, compared to 50 years ago, there are 20,000 fewer priests and 130,000 fewer religious sisters? At the same time, the Catholic population has continued to grow steadily. National Vocation Awareness Week, November 6-12, 2022, is an annual week-long celebration dedicated to promoting vocations to the priesthood, consecrated life and marriage through prayer and education. Is there anyone in your parish you know preparing for priesthood, consecrated life or marriage? Let them know you are praying for them. Let us renew our prayers and support for those who are discerning their vocation as a priest, as a consecrated religious or to marriage, especially from our parish.
