RETIREMENT COLLECTION: Bulletin Announcements

Parish Appeal/Pulpit Announcement:
Our second collection on December 11 is for the Retirement Fund for Religious. Thousands of elderly sisters, brothers and religious order priests spent years working in ministries—such as Catholic schools, parishes and hospitals—often for little or no pay. Today, many religious communities do not have enough savings to meet retirement needs. Your donation helps provide medications, nursing care and more. Please give generously.

Bulletin Announcements:
Week before the collection: Lighten the load. An abbot writes, “Your gift helps ease our worldly burdens and allows us to continue living out our mission of seeking God and serving the Church.” Donations to next week’s Retirement Fund for Religious collection help hundreds of US religious communities to provide for their aging members. Please give generously.

Week of the collection: Help aging religious.Senior sisters, brothers and religious order priests have devoted their lives to prayer, service and works of mercy. Most ministered for little or no pay. Today, their religious communities do not have enough retirement savings. Your gift to today’s Retirement Fund for Religious collection helps to furnish medications, nursing care and other necessities. Please give generously.

Week after the collection: Religious give thanks. A sister writes, “We remember the many people who believe in the Retirement Fund for Religious, thanking them in prayer for their great generosity and compassion.” God bless you for donating to last week’s second collection. Visit retiredreligious.org to learn how your gift supports elderly sisters, brothers, and religious order priests.

SAFE ENVIRONMENT CORNER: Did you know? ...

Did You Know…Safety Rules can keep you safe in an unsafe world. Safety Rule #5 – No Blame/No Shame. No matter what happens, it is important to know you should never feel ashamed to seek help and talk to a Safe Adult if you are unsafe or have been hurt. You are not to blame, and it is never too late to tell. Even if you make an unsafe or inappropriate decision, talking to a Safe Adult can help you learn and stay safe. For more information, contact the Safe Environment Office at (315) 393-2920.

PLANNED GIVING: Give Your House and Continue to Live There

You may want to make a major gift to our parish. Why not consider real estate? This is called a life estate gift. This simply means that you give a piece of real estate, such as your residence, to our parish, obtain a charitable income tax deduction and retain the right to live there as long as you want. This arrangement removes the property from your estate and relieves your executor from having to dispose of your home at your death. Contact Scott Lalone at the Diocese at 315-393-2920 or Email slalone@rcdony.org for further information.

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP:

for the December 10/11 Bulletin

NEW

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP:

for the December 17/18 Bulletin

An Eco-Tips for a "Greener" Christmas: So many toys, so many batteries! 40% of battery-operated items are purchased at Christmastime. While there are countless games and gadgets that require batteries, you can choose the rechargeable route to help ensure less batteries end up in the garbage. Batteries contain toxic chemicals, do not biodegrade and are difficult to recycle. In addition small batteries pose a serious choking hazard for young children. Check out rechargeable batteries that can plug directly into any USB connector when you flip open the battery cap. (The Guardian.com)

HEALING PRAYER SERVICE: An Evening Of Healing Of: Mind, Body And Spirit in Watertown

Healing Prayer Service at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church,
320 W. Lynde St, Watertown
Thursday, December 1, at 5 PM

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart and the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart would like to invite everyone to a Healing Prayer Service, an evening of healing of: mind, body, and spirit. The evening will begin with adoration and reflection. The night then will provide an opportunity for individual confession and anointing with the oil of the sick. The evening will conclude with Benediction.
Healing prayer services are a powerful means of bringing God’ s healing power into the lives of those who are suffering from illness, physical disabilities, grief, fear, and mental or spiritual health issues. Starting a healing prayer service can meet these needs through the power of prayer that brings the gift of healing into the lives of others by connecting to God’ s loving presence.

All are welcome.
