RECITAL WITH CHRISTINE BOOKMAN

Mark your calendars! The First Sunday of Advent, November 27, at 3 pm, there will be a final 2022 recital at Saint Mary’s Cathedral, with a reception following. There is no cost to attend.
Come hear Mrs. Christine Bookman on both the new organ as well as the antique Steinway. Christine began playing organ and piano for church during her high school years and later studied piano and organ performance at Clarks Summit University. She has continued taking lessons whenever possible and loves learning new things. In 2012, Christine opened her own piano studio where she teaches approximately 30 students ranging in age from 4 to 72. Since 2016, Christine has been the Music Director at St. Mary’s Cathedral. During this time, she has overseen the purchase of two new grand pianos and an organ which have enhanced the music program greatly.

RETIREMENT COLLECTION: Bulletin Announcements

Parish Appeal/Pulpit Announcement:
Our second collection on December 11 is for the Retirement Fund for Religious. Thousands of elderly sisters, brothers, and religious order priests spent years working in ministries—such as Catholic schools, parishes, and hospitals—often for little or no pay. Today, many religious communities do not have enough savings to meet retirement needs. Your donation helps provide medications, nursing care, and more. Please give generously.

Bulletin Announcements:
Week before the collection: Lighten the load. An abbot writes, “Your gift helps ease our worldly burdens and allows us to continue living out our mission of seeking God and serving the Church.” Donations to next week’s Retirement Fund for Religious collection help hundreds of US religious communities to provide for their aging members. Please give generously.

Week of the collection: Help aging religious.Senior sisters, brothers, and religious order priests have devoted their lives to prayer, service, and works of mercy. Most ministered for little or no pay. Today, their religious communities do not have enough retirement savings. Your gift to today’s Retirement Fund for Religious collection helps to furnish medications, nursing care, and other necessities. Please give generously.

Week after the collection: Religious give thanks. A sister writes, “We remember the many people who believe in the Retirement Fund for Religious, thanking them in prayer for their great generosity and compassion.” God bless you for donating to last week’s second collection. Visit retiredreligious.org to learn how your gift supports elderly sisters, brothers, and religious order priests.

SAFE ENVIRONMENT CORNER: Did you know? ...

Did You Know…Safety Rules can keep you safe in an unsafe world. Safety Rule #4 – Talk It Up. This means knowing you have the right to be safe and knowing you can use a strong or assertive voice if you or others are in an unsafe situation. Say “NO” to someone who is violating your personal boundaries or otherwise demonstrating unsafe behaviors. It also means telling a Safe Adult about the inappropriate situation. Failing to report unsafe situations allows problems to continue to grow and may cause more damaging long-term consequences. For more information, contact the Safe Environment Office at (315) 393-2920.

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP:

for the November 26/27 Bulletin

The Advent Message: "Be Awake!" could call us to be more attentive to our habits of consumption and challenge our creativity in our gift giving this Christmas. Resist the "gospel of consumption" that says 'more is better.' Embrace the Christian spirituality that says 'less is better' and proposes a growth marked by moderation and the capacity to be happy with little. Laudato Si #222 Buy less, waste less and enjoy it more!

HEALING PRAYER SERVICE: An Evening Of Healing Of: Mind, Body And Spirit in Watertown

Healing Prayer Service at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church,
320 W. Lynde St, Watertown
Thursday, December 1, at 5pm

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart and the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart would like to invite everyone to a Healing Prayer Service, an evening of healing of: mind, body, and spirit.
The evening will begin with adoration and reflection. The night then will provide an opportunity for individual confession and anointing with the oil of the sick. The evening will conclude with Benediction.
Healing prayer services are a powerful means of bringing God’ s healing power into the lives of those who are suffering from illness, physical disabilities, grief, fear, and mental or spiritual health issues. Starting a healing prayer service can meet these needs through the power of prayer that brings the gift of healing into the lives of others by connecting to God’ s loving presence.

All are welcome.
