RECITAL WITH CHRISTINE BOOKMAN

Mark your calendars! The First Sunday of Advent, November 27, at 3 pm, there will be a final 2022 recital at Saint Mary’s Cathedral, with a reception following. There is no cost to attend.
Come hear Mrs. Christine Bookman on both the new organ as well as the antique Steinway. Christine began playing organ and piano for church during her high school years and later studied piano and organ performance at Clarks Summit University. She has continued taking lessons whenever possible and loves learning new things. In 2012, Christine opened her own piano studio where she teaches approximately 30 students ranging in age from 4 to 72. Since 2016, Christine has been the Music Director at St. Mary’s Cathedral. During this time, she has overseen the purchase of two new grand pianos and an organ which have enhanced the music program greatly.

HEALING PRAYER SERVICE: An Evening Of Healing Of: Mind, Body And Spirit in Watertown

Healing Prayer Service at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church,
320 W. Lynde St, Watertown
Thursday, December 1, at 5pm

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart and the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart would like to invite everyone to a Healing Prayer Service, an evening of healing of: mind, body, and spirit.
The evening will begin with adoration and reflection. The night then will provide an opportunity for individual confession and anointing with the oil of the sick. The evening will conclude with Benediction.
Healing prayer services are a powerful means of bringing God’ s healing power into the lives of those who are suffering from illness, physical disabilities, grief, fear, and mental or spiritual health issues. Starting a healing prayer service can meet these needs through the power of prayer that brings the gift of healing into the lives of others by connecting to God’ s loving presence.

All are welcome.

SAFE ENVIRONMENT CORNER: Did you know? ...

Did You Know…Safety Rules can keep you safe in an unsafe world. Safety Rule #3 – Make a Move. This involves using good decision-making skills to respond to new or unsafe situations, both online and off. Make a move by getting away from unsafe situations or people, or by staying away from people and situations you know are unsafe. It also means helping a friend out of an unsafe situation, whether they recognize it is unsafe or not. For more information, contact the Safe Environment Office at (315) 393-2920.

NATIONAL VOCATION WEEK: All pastors, catechists, principals

Did you know that in our country, compared to 50 years ago, there are 20,000 fewer priests and 130,000 fewer religious sisters? At the same time, the Catholic population has continued to grow steadily. National Vocation Awareness Week, November 6-12, 2022, is an annual week-long celebration dedicated to promoting vocations to the priesthood, consecrated life and marriage through prayer and education. Is there anyone in your parish you know preparing for priesthood, consecrated life or marriage? Let them know you are praying for them. Let us renew our prayers and support for those who are discerning their vocation as a priest, as a consecrated religious or to marriage, especially from our parish.

Schedule Change

CURSILLO WEEKENDS FOR MEN AND WOMEN: Apply Now.

Men's Weekend: Rescheduled May 11-14, 2023
Women's Weekend: Postponed. New dates TBD

A Cursillo Weekend is an encounter with self, Christ and others. It is three days of joyful living and sharing, experiencing and learning a simple method to know God better and develop more fully as a Christian. The purpose of the weekend is to provide the tools for daily Christian living. Cursillo begins on a Thursday evening and ends Sunday evening.

During the three days, participants hear talks given by priests, deacons and lay persons, and may participate in discussion with others in small groups. The Eucharist is celebrated each day, and there is time for personal prayer and reflection, Sacrament of Reconciliation and fellowship. The weekend reviews the basics of Catholic faith with an emphasis on how you may live it more effectively in your own life.

Since each person’s circumstances in life are different and each has a unique relationship with God, the Cursillo weekend is a deeply personal experience and, as such, can’t be fully described. It must be lived and experienced first-hand to appreciate.

For more information or to download the application: https://www.rcdony.org/evangelization/cursillo.html
If you have questions, or would like to be sponsored, please contact Michael Neaton, the pre-cursillo coordinator at neatonmichael@yahoo.com
