ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP: Creation Care Tips

for the August 6/7 Bulletin

During the summer months there are often ‘concerts in the parks’ around us. One poet reminds us that there are also ‘concerts’ God sends us when we are outdoors. "There is always music among the trees in the garden, but our hearts must be very quiet to hear it." (Minnie Aumônier) Have you heard it this summer?

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS CELEBRATE A SPIRITUAL-FRATERNAL TRADITION: pilgrimage to St. Anne’s Shrine in Isle LaMotte

On Sunday, July 17th, Knights of Columbus from throughout the Diocese of Ogdensburg will participate in their 74th annual pilgrimage to St. Anne’s Shrine in Isle LaMotte, Vermont. Most Reverend Terry R. LaValley will celebrate Mass at 12:15 p.m. Following Mass, the Peru K of C Council will serve a luncheon on the shrine’s grounds.

Beautiful St. Anne’s Shrine is located on the shores of Lake Champlain, only a few miles from the Rouses Point Bridge.  The Shrine’s religious history began in 1666 when the French erected a fort and chapel. The chapel was blessed in 1893, and a beautiful statue of St. Anne, the mother of Mary, was erected.

NFP AWARENESS WEEK JULY 24-30, 2022: Called to the Joy of Love
NFP Awareness Week, an annual educational campaign of the USCCB, invites everyone to discover the wise design of God for sexuality and married love. The Natural Family Planning Office mails posters and educational materials to all parishes; additional copies upon request.  Download additional bulletin inserts and bulletin briefs and homily helps by clicking the links.

"CALLED TO THE JOY OF LOVE." This theme for National NFP Awareness Week , July 24-30, invites all to discover how Natural Family Planning supports God's gifts of love and life in marriage. In THE JOY OF LOVE (AL, 222), Pope Francis specifically calls attention to these healthy, effective, morally acceptable, and truly organic approaches to family planning. He writes, "They are to be promoted, since these methods respect the bodies of the spouses, encourage tenderness between them, and favor the education of an authentic freedom." To hear from couples who know from experience that this is true, go to www.rcdony.org/nfp. To learn more, please contact the NFP Office, apietropaoli@rcdony.org or at 518-483-0459.
