NFP AWARENESS WEEK JULY 23-29, 2023:

NFP Awareness Week, an annual educational campaign of the USCCB, invites everyone to discover the wise design of God for sexuality and married love. The Natural Family Planning Office sends posters and educational materials to all parishes; additional copies are available upon request. Pastors and homilists: homily notes and suggested prayers of the faithful can be accessed by clicking HERE.

"MARRIAGE, ONE FLESH GIVEN AND RECEIVED." The USCCB's theme for Natural Family Planning Awareness Week highlights the close connection between the Sacrament of the Eucharist and the Sacrament of Marriage. This connection invites us all to open our hearts to the mystery of life-giving love that is the Body of Christ in the Eucharist, a mystery that is echoed in the gift of their bodies that spouses make to each other in marriage. God has designed this gift to be both life-giving AND love-giving. Alone among family planning methods, NFP honors God's design, "...respects the bodies of the spouses, encourages tenderness between them, and favors the education of an authentic freedom" (Pope Francis, THE JOY OF LOVE, 222). To hear from couples who have experienced the joy of this truth, go to www.rcdony.org/nfp. To learn more, please contact the NFP Office, info@rcdony.org or at 315-393-2920.

FRIENDSHIP GROUP: Online

Our next Friendship Group meeting will be held on Thursday, July 20 at 7 p.m.
Father Nathan Marzonie, OMV will talk with us about the book "Beholding Beauty, Mary and the Song of Songs," by Father Greg Cleveland, OMV and answer your questions.

In this life-changing book, you will discover:

- The Blessed Virgin Mary as a fulfillment of the mystery of the bride in the Song of Songs.
- New insights into Our Lady's union with the Holy Trinity, a union that each baptized person is called to experience.
- How to pray through the Song of Songs with Mary.
- Spiritual reading to nourish your soul.
- A way to make a personal retreat in daily life.
- How to open your heart to Mary's loving care for you.

Please feel free to read the book at your own pace. As Father Cleveland explains in the introduction, it may be used as a retreat and one chapter can be pondered over the course of a week. For the purpose of our discussion, Father Marzonie will focus on chapters 1, 4, 5, 13, and 14.

To order the book, visit https://paulinestore.com/ and type Beholding Beauty in the search.

SAFE ENVIRONMENT CORNER: Did you know? ...

Did You Know…there are nearly 1 million registered sex offenders living the United States. These are offenders who have been caught, convicted, served jail time, and are now living among us. This number does NOT include child molesters who are currently serving time in prison. Since the FBI estate that only 10-40% of sex crimes are ever reported, that means there are millions of sex offenders living in the U.S., many of whom have never been reported, caught, or convicted.
