ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP
(for the September 9/10 Bulletin)
The Season of Creation takes place between the World Day of Prayer for Creation on September 1 and the Feast of St. Francis on October 4. This is an opportunity to pray and care for creation with thousands of Christians around the world. As Pope Francis said in last year’s Day of Prayer for Creation message, “we should be united in showing mercy to the earth as our common home and cherishing the world in which we live as a place for sharing and communion.”
NEW
ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP
(for the September 16/17)
“So what [we] all need is an ‘ecological conversion,’ whereby the effects of [our] encounter with Jesus Christ becomes evident in [our] relationship with the world around [us]. Living our vocation to be protectors of God’s handiwork is essential to a life of virtue; it is not an optional or secondary aspect of our Christian experience.” Laudato Si (217) Summer is the blessed season for reveling in the gifts of creation. As we enjoy the special presence of nature, consider how this call for an ecological conversion has increased your awareness and fired your will to make lifestyle changes that benefit the Earth community.
