In response to requests by our Pope and Bishop, St. Mary’s Cathedral in Ogdensburg will host a Day of Prayer and Penance: for the victims of sexual abuse by the clergy and for the purification of the Church.”
The mystical Body of Christ, the Church, is grievously wounded by these betrayals. Please join us in prayer and penance on Friday, September 14, the Feast of the Exultation of the Holy Cross, beginning with 12:00 noon Mass in St. Mary's Cathedral. The day will continue with adoration of the Holy Eucharist and praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet at 3:00 pm. Bishop LaValley will lead us in a Holy Hour of Reparation beginning at 4:00 pm. We will conclude with Benediction at 5:00 pm.
May all who have suffered find healing and strength, and may our Church reflect anew the true holiness of the Body of Christ!

YOUTH LEAD: 2018 Leadership Weekend
Jesus calls us to, "Love one another as I have loved you" John 13:34
We are presented with opportunities to "love one another" all the time, yet it can be difficult to recognize these moments through all the noise and interference that exist in today's world. Even when we recognize the moments to “love one another,” to become “Disciple Leaders,” we may not know how or why we should do so.
Join us on this weekend of faith, fellowship and fun as we learn about Jesus's love for us and how we can grow to become "Disciple Leaders" in our homes, communities, schools and work.
This year's retreat location will be held at Guggenheim on the weekend of September 28-30
The ticket price for this all-inclusive retreat is $70.00 *Workshops, meals, and accommodations, included*

THE CATHOLIC FAMILY: God's Answer for our Time
The Catholic Family is a countercultural sign witnessing the love and light of Christ to the world.
This one-day event for families: men, women and teens is intended to help us be the salt and light in our communities. As we are strengthened in our own faith and learn how much we are loved by God, we in turn will become signs of hope, faith and love for those around us.
This powerful event is for everyone in the diocese! That means YOU! There will be sessions for adults, as well as evening tracks for teenagers.
Our keynote speaker will be Johnnette Benkovic Williams, who, together with Thomas Sullivan and Sue Brinkman will present us with strategies for living our faith out loud so that we may be beacons of hope in a noisy and confused world.
The day will include Morning Prayer, presentations, Mass with Bishop LaValley, special evening presentations for teens, and will conclude with a Healing Rosary service.

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP
(for the September 8/9 Bulletin)
As we enjoy the honey on our toast or in our tea, let's remember where and how this precious substance has found its way to our table. Bees, one of God's creatures, precious and vulnerable work very hard to collect the sugary substance that becomes honey. And as pollinators, their existence is so important to continue the cycle that provides us with fruits and vegetables. Pray each day to St. Francis to help protect these valuable creatures. Their numbers are being threatened.

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP
(for the September 15/16 Bulletin)
SAVE THE PLANET is an important statement that we need to pray on as Pope Francis expresses in “Laudato Si”. He challenges the world to stop pollution, to recycle and carpool and to do without air conditioning — and makes it a moral imperative. "The exploitation of the planet has already exceeded acceptable limits and we still have not solved the problem of poverty," he writes. Make it a priority to know of something that you can do.
