ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP
(for the August 26/27 Bulletin)
Have you ever wished you knew of a natural week killer that protected the soil and the water while keeping under control those plant species that grow where you don’t want them (better known as ‘WEEDS’)? Here is one to try: 4 cups white vinegar; 1/4 cup salt and 1 tsp. liquid soap. Combine ingredients in a spray bottle and spray the weeds at the sunniest time of the day for best results. Spray carefully. This stuff can’t tell a flower or vegetable plant from a ‘weed’! This recipe and for many other recipes: search for “homemade weed killer.”

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP
(for the September 2/3 Bulletin)
Did you know that Pope Francis has ordered the nearly 100 fountains to be turned off at the Vatican as a response to show solidarity with the critical water shortage and drought in Rome and in many part of Italy? This decision is very much in line with Pope Francis’ thinking on ecology in Laudato Si: “can’t waste and sometimes you have to be willing to make a sacrifice.”
