200329 mary

Mary Immaculate, our Mother and our Patroness,
we ask you to intercede for us with your Son,
as you did at the wedding in Cana.

Pray for us, loving Mother,
and gain for our diocese, our nation and our world,
for our families and loved ones,
the protection of your Maternal mantle from this dreaded virus.

In this time of trial and testing,
teach all of us to love one another and to be patient and kind.
Help us to bring the peace and healing Presence of Jesus to our land and to our hearts.

We come to you with confidence,
knowing that you are our compassionate mother,
health of the sick and cause of our joy.
Keep us in the embrace of your arms,
Help us always to know the love of your Son, Jesus our Lord.
AMEN.

GRANT FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES: attention Pastors

The Diocese of Ogdensburg annually offers two grants of $5,000.00 each to assist the parishes and institutions of the Diocese in providing assistance for people with disabilities.

These funds are made available from the annual contribution of the New York State Knights of Columbus to the Diocese of Ogdensburg. They will be distributed by the diocese on the recommendations of Catholic Charities and the Department of Education.

The criteria for acceptability of the request cover several factors. Improvement in already existing programs or facilities will be considered. Some ideas for funding include: adapting facilities, special equipment, training for personnel, and program development.

It is important to remember that programs which have received funding previously may not apply for the grant for the following three years.  Programs/projects must show proof of additional sources of revenue to support the programs/projects.

If you wish to be considered for a grant, please plan your proposal carefully. The grant application may be downloaded HERE

Applications must be submitted by May 22, 2020. Monies will be allocated after June 5, 2020.

If you have any questions regarding the grant and/or the application please contact vlalonde@rcdony.org or call (315) 393-2920 ext. 1411.

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP: Lent

(for the April 18/19 Bulletin)

Care for one another and for creation includes understanding that “everything is connected” (Laudato Si, no. 91). During these past weeks of the pandemic we as a family of God have become acutely more aware of our inter-connectedness. The virus has stopped us in our tracks and caused us to see what we take for granted. We observe how the economy, politics, community involvement, and technology all affect the future of humankind and the planet. As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day this week (April 22), take some time to enjoy the ‘resurrection’ of new life around us and within us during this Easter season. Consider some of the sacrifices I am making now during this health crisis that I could continue to do, i.e. less travel, less shopping, as a way of expressing my gratitude for this incredible gift.

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP: Easter Sunday

(for the April 25/26 Bulletin)

The words of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, spoken at the 2010 World Day of Peace message, nos. 4.5., “If You Want to Cultivate Peace, Protect Creation," can be food for thought as we live through this present time. “Our present crises – be they economic, food-related, environmental or social – are ultimately also moral crises, and all of them are interrelated. They require us to rethink the path which we are traveling together.” We are well aware of the destructive path that our present practices of over consumption, use of fossil fuels, and the pollution of air, water and land is having on the well-being of the human family. What has this present health crisis taught us about a different way of living more simply?

SAFE ENVIRONMENT CORNER: Did you know? ...

Did you know…National Blue Sunday will be held on April 26, 2020. It is a day churches of all faiths join together in prayer to support children and families who have been touched by abuse, and to demonstrate appreciation to those who help abuse or neglected children.  Please join others across the nation in praying for children who have been abused, and for the prevention of future abuse. A prayer for healing can be found at https://www.rcdony.org/safeenv.html

PLANNED GIVING: Appreciate Offertory Support

We sincerely thank our parishioners who mail or deliver your weekly envelopes to the parish office while we are in this isolation period with the COVID-19 Pandemic. As many of you understand our parish expenses and obligations do not take a isolation, so it is very helpful to be able to rely on your continued support even when you cannot personally attend Mass here. We continue to look to our faith as we carefully navigate in the coming months. Here at the Diocese of Ogdensburg we continue with our Mission of administering to the sick and helping those in need. We pray together for all the victims of this disease, those assisting with the care and for a cure.
