Thank you for taking the time to inquire about the Formation For Ministry program in the Diocese of Ogdensburg.
Lay ministry plays an important and distinctive role in our parishes today and it is a credit to you that you are considering this program to enable you to become a more effective member of your parish.
You are invited to browse through our general information tab. As you learn more about our program, it is our hope that you will respond to God’s call and join the hundreds throughout our diocese that have completed the two year program and have been commissioned by the Bishop as Commissioned Lay Ministers.
If you believe you are called to serve your parish as a Commissioned Lay Minister, please make an appointment with your pastor to discuss it. If your pastor agrees your gifts are needed for a specific ministry in the parish, then you may begin the application process.
Complete the application form as soon as possible and fax or mail it to the Formation for Ministry office. Have your pastor complete the Pastor Recommendation Form and send it to the office as well. After receipt of your application and the pastor’s recommendation, an appointment for an interview with you will be arranged.
God calls each of us to serve others through our baptism and you are responding in a special way to His voice. Be assured of our prayers as you continue to discern the Lord’s call in your life.
