ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP

(for the October 8/9  Bulletin)

Did you know that” St. Francis asked that part of the friary garden always be left untouched, so that wild flowers and herbs could grow there, and those who saw them could raise their mind to God, the Creator of such beauty”? (Laudato Si #12) St Columba tells us “To know Creation is to know the Creator? In the beauty of these Autumn days what are you learning about the Creator?

NEW

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP

(for the October 15/16 Bulletin)

What corporal work of mercy for caring for Creation might we do during the season of fall? One consideration could be to compost the leaves, so they may become nourishment for next year’s garden. No garden? Place them in paper bags instead of plastic ones for removable. This will hasten decomposition in the landfill and reduce the use of oil used in the manufacturing of plastic.

BLUE MASS FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT

A Mass honoring the law enforcement personnel of the North Country will be celebrated on October 30, 2016 at 2:30 pm in St. Joseph’s Church, 306 West Main Street, Malone. Commonly referred to as the “Blue Mass,” it was thought important that such an event be held in northern New York to offer thanks to God for the dedication and sacrifice made by the women and men in law enforcement and to pray for their safety, as well as, for their families and communities. On this occasion, we hope to draw representation from various local agencies of law enforcement and the Department of Corrections to join in this special moment of prayer. Bishop LaValley would like to invite parishioners from throughout the Diocese of Ogdensburg to join him for this inaugural event. For further information please contact: Fr. Shane Lynch, Chaplain Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Watertown Police Department FBI Albany 315-287-0114 frshane@icloud.com
