PRESENTATION ON BULLYING: Facts, Effects, & Prevention of Bullying

DID YOU KNOW? That Bullying in our schools was a factor in 2/3 of the 37 school shootings reviewed by the U.S. Secret Service? Often people dismiss bullying among our youth as a normal part of growing up. Bullying is extremely harmful. We have seen, in recent years, the psychological effects on our children that can last a lifetime and, also have dire consequences. Bullying is not just happening in other states, other communities. It is happening here in our communities.

YOU ARE INVITED! St. Mary's Catholic Church is sponsoring a presentation on the "Facts, Effects, and Prevention" of Bullying. Our guest speaker is Deputy Carrie Mangino, who knows first-hand the effects of Bullying in our schools. Adults and youth are invited to join us on Thursday, November 14th at 7 PM in St. Mary’s Parish Center at 521 James Street, Clayton for this informative and free event! For more information, contact St. Mary's Parish Office at 315-686-3398.

NORTH COUNTRY CURSILLO: Consider Participating in a Cursillo Weekend

Cursillo is a means to help Catholic Christians realize the depth of God’s love for each of us and the beauty of our Catholic Faith. It provides a simple method to help one develop and grow in Faith and better live the daily struggle of the Christian life.

A Cursillo Weekend is an encounter with Christ, others and self. Cursillo means “short course” and consists of talks given by priests and lay persons with participation in small group discussions.  Weekend participants also share the Eucharist, sing, pray and fellowship together.

North Country Cursillo of the Ogdensburg diocese is planning to hold two Cursillo Weekend events this fall.  These weekends will be held for men on Nov 21-24, 2019 at Wadhams Hall in Ogdensburg and for women on December 12-15, 2019 at Wadhams Hall in Ogdensburg.

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP:

(for the November 2/3 Bulletin)

"All Creation sings God’s praise." (Ps. 19). As part of creation let us lend our voices to give thanks to our Creator for each aspect of creation that we come in contact with this week. Consider creating your own litany of praise, as the young men in the book of Daniel did. See: Daniel 3:57 and following.

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP:

SAFE ENVIRONMENT CORNER: Did you know? ...

All Diocesan clergy and employees, all Catholic school and parish employees, and all volunteers whose duties require contact with minors must undergo a background check. The Diocese of Ogdensburg has conducted over 875 background checks since January 1, 2019. Background checks help keep predators away from children because they can uncover past actions which should ban an adult from working or volunteering with children. For more information, visit the Diocesan Safe Environment website at https://www.rcdony.org/safeenv
