(for the June 16/17 Bulletin)

In her book, Blessed are the Consumers, Sallie McFague states “...it is imperative that people of religious faith realize the significant role they play in advocating for the earth, and a more humane life for all.” One step to end Plastic Pollution: Plastic bags are one of the biggest sources of plastic pollution. Begin reusing plastic bags; bring your own canvas or reusable bag or purchase one when shopping. Keep one in your car

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP

(for the June 23/24 Bulletin)

Picnic Time! While we enjoy the beauties of Creation that surround us, why not choose reusable plates, cups, silverware or paper products instead of throwaway plastics for your summertime gatherings. Did you know studies show that more than 50% of plastics are disposed of after a single use? Caring for “our common home” can happen one simple purchase at a time!.

PLANNED GIVING: Buy a New Life Insurance Policy

Some people find they can make a much larger gift than they could otherwise afford by taking out a life insurance policy and name our parish, Catholic school, the Diocese, a Mission Project of the Diocese or a Ministry/Program of the Diocese as beneficiary.  If you name any of the above as owner and beneficiary, the premiums you pay will be deductible on your income tax.  It’s a way to make a large gift on the “installment plan.” Contact Scott Lalone at the Diocese at 315-393-2920 or Email slalone@rcdony.org  for further information.
