ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP

(for the July 1/2 Bulletin)

We often tell our children to clean up after themselves, but when it comes to the environment, it seems we are happy for them to clean up the mess we have created. The evidence is clear: we need action and we need it now. An average American generate 3.5 lb. of garbage a day. Suggestions to reduce that trash when grocery shopping: consider the packaging and how much trash it will create, i.e. individually - wrapped items, non-recyclable containers, aerosol cans. At the checkout use a reusable bag or ask for paper that is biodegradable.

NEW

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP

(for the July 8/9 Bulletin)

Where is away? We throw so much away. But where exactly is “away”? When you think about it, there is no “away”. When you throw away the Styrofoam container, the non-recyclable plastic, the aluminum pan, it all goes into the trash can, then into the landfill. Out of sight - but where it remains for generations to come. Suggestion: for summer picnics and events: why not choose reusable plates, cups and silverware that create little or no trash? Or, when not feasible for large groups, consider purchasing paper products whenever possible.

PATRIOTIC ROSARY: Ogdensburg, NY

ATTENTION PATRIOTIC PRAYER WARRIORS

Our Lady’s Parishes will host a patriotic rosary on the 4th of July at 8:00AM at Notre Dame Church in Ogdensburg. This lovely prayer will include patriotic music as well as prayers for our country, each branch of government, and each individual state. The prayer service will precede the 9:00AM Independence Day Mass.

2017 marks the 100th anniversary of the message of Fatima. The children of Fatima revealed that the Blessed Virgin Mary told them that the people must ask for forgiveness of their sins and pray for peace. She prophesied that the errors of communism and atheism would spread throughout the world, and that the sinfulness of the world leads to many wars.

At a time when there is a great deal of turmoil throughout the world, people of faith understand that prayer is the most effective weapon against the forces of evil. Worshippers from throughout the diocese are invited to join forces with the Legion of Mary to consecrate this national holiday in a special way.   For more information contact the parish: 315-393-3930
