NATURAL FAMILY PLANNING AWARENESS WEEK: Attention Pastors and Parish Secretaries
“Natural Family Planning. Love, Mercy, Life. Opening the Heart of Marriage” is the theme of this year’s NFP Awareness Week. NFP Awareness Week is July 24-30. A national campaign of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, this observance celebrates God’s design for married love and the gift of life while raising awareness of Natural Family Planning methods. The slogan for this year’s NFP Awareness Week was inspired by the Holy Father’s call for a Jubilee Year of Mercy, a special time of grace in the Church when all, including married couples and families, are invited to open their hearts more fully to the unconditional love, mercy and life which Christ and the Church offer us.
Posters and educational materials are being mailed to all parishes, and pastors are encouraged to assist by including bulletin announcements and intercessions to increase awareness; these are available on the Pastoral Documentation page. Bishop LaValley’s NFP Week letter will be sent directly to pastors, and may also be found in Pastoral Documentation or click the following links for NFP Awareness Week Intercessions and Bulletin Announcements (also reprinted below in the Notices for Bulletins section).

JULY 9 and 10: Diocesan Sign-up Weekend in parishes for INSPIRE: Called to Love: Bishop LaValley has given the approval for July 9-10 to be the official Diocesan Sign-up weekend, we’re hoping that around that time you’ll be able to give a concerted effort in promoting the event. We’re encouraging those who met for the training to make an appointment and sit down with the other promoters and you (their pastors) in order to come up with a game plan that will work well for your parish. Please note that promotional material, posters, promo cards, paper sign-up forms etc. are available on the pastoral documentation site in the INSPIRE FOLDER. Natural Family Planning is an effective, safe, and healthy way to achieve or to postpone pregnancy while respecting the design of the Creator. In The Joy of Love (#222), Pope Francis wrote that natural methods “are to be promoted, since these methods respect the bodies of the spouses, encourage tenderness between them, and favor the education of an authentic freedom.” Couples who choose Natural Family Planning discover these benefits for themselves. NFP is morally good because it helps married couples respect God’s design for married love” (Theresa Notare, PhD, Assistant Director, NFP Program, United States Conference of Catholic Bishops). Be sure to take a large garbage bag to take away whatever you bring and maybe to pick up what someone else forgot. If we each do that the world will be even more beautiful. In Laudato Si, Pope Francis calls us to "foster a spirit of generous care, full of tenderness. It entails gratitude and recognition that the world is God's loving gift, and that we are called quietly to imitate his generosity in self- sacrifice and good works...It also entails a loving awareness that we are not disconnected from the rest of creatures but joined in a splendid, universal communion." (Laudato Si #220)

FAMILY PILGRIMAGE TO ST ANNE'S SHRINE
Join us on July 16 from 11am-5pm for a Family Pilgrimage to St. Anne's Shrine in Isle La Motte on nearby Lake Champlain. MONTHLY PRAYER GROUP: Senior Housing, Mooers, NY
We meet every second Friday at 1pm each month to pray for all the sick in our parishes. The group was formed several years ago when Dot and Nancy wanted to pray for all the sick in their parish, St. Louis of France. Now we meet at the Senior Housing in Mooers and pray for all the people added to our list each month. All are welcome. The Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet are recited within the prayer service.
