NFP WEEK 2018/ RESOURCES

NFP Awareness Week, an annual educational initiative of the USCCB, will be observed this year from July 22-28. This year’s theme, “Generations of Love,” honors the 50th anniversary of Humanae Vitae and calls everyone to celebrate and reverence God’s vision for human sexuality and married love. As in years past, the NFP Office is mailing posters and educational materials to all parishes. We appreciate your help in promoting this effort.

Following are links to intercessions, homily helps, and additional bulletin announcements.

NFP AWARENESS WEEK JULY 22-28: USCCB annual initiative to increase awareness of God's plan for married love.

July 22-28 marks National NFP Awareness Week, an annual invitation to consider the beauty of God's plan for sex, love, and marriage. "Like so many other people who have made the switch to Natural Family Planning," writes Jennifer Fulwiler, "I simply couldn't be okay with any form of sterilization any more, whether temporary or permanent. In that place deep in the heart where the most important truths about our humanity reside, I know as surely as I know anything else that those Catholic teachings about human sexuality are true and good." To learn more about those teachings, or about NFP--a healthy, effective, and respectful approach to family planning—please contact the Diocesan NFP Office, apietropaoli@rcdony.org or 518-483-0459. Visit us at www.rcdony.org/nfp.html.

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP

(for the July 14/15 Bulletin)

Plastic is a subject that is foremost in the news right now.   “The devastation of plastic pollution is not who we are as a global community.  Now is the time for us to reflect on our own beauty, our power to affect our environment through individual action –we're starting with the plastic straw.”  Adrian Grenier, Lonely Whale Co-Founder.  For more information on the Lonely Whale, please check out this web site https://www.strawlessocean.org/lonelywhale/

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP

(for the July 21/22 Bulletin)

Something as small as refusing a straw at a restaurant is a great place to begin your action plan to reduce plastic pollution.  When we know that 500 million plastic straws are used EVERY DAY in America; enough to circle the Earth twice it is time to take this awareness and make a small step toward helping our planet.
