Includes posters and materials to parishes, together with Bishop LaVAlley's letter, bulletin announcements and prayers of the faithful (see Pastoral Documentation). Additional info and homily suggestions are availalbe at http://www.usccb.org/issues-and-action/marriage-and-family/natural-family-planning/awareness-week/index.cfm . Bulletin Announcements are also available below in the notices for bulletin section of this eNotes edition
NFP Awareness Week, which begins July 23, invites the faithful to discover and live God’s plan for married love. “Catholic teaching on sexuality, conjugal love and responsible parenthood reflect God’s loving design. The significance of NFP methods is that they are tools to help husband and wife live that reality by respecting God’s plan. These methods do nothing to harm God’s plan, which is why the Church supports the use of NFP in marriage” (USCCB 2017). To learn more, contact the Diocesan NFP Office, apietropaoli@rcdony.org or call 518-483-0459. Visit us at www.rcdony.org/nfp.

NEW
ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP
(for the July 29/30 Bulletin)
In Chapter Six of his Encylical Laudato Si – Care for Creation - Pope Francis asks all believers to return to the beautiful and meaningful custom of giving thanks to God, before and after meals. That moment of blessing, however brief, reminds us of
our dependence on God for life; it strengthens our feeling of gratitude for the gifts of creation. That moment of blessing acknowledges those who by their labors provide us with these goods; and it reaffirms our solidarity with those in greatest need.
NEW
ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP
(for the August 5/6 Bulletin)
In Chapter Two of his Encyclical Laudato Si - Care for our Common Home – Pope Francis suggests that if the simple fact of being human moves people to care for the environment of which they are a part, Christians “realize that their responsibility within creation, and their duty towards nature and the Creator, are an essential part of their faith.” The book of Genesis suggests human life is grounded in three fundamental, intertwined relationships: with God; with our neighbor and with the Earth itself.

NATURAL FAMILY PLANNING AWARENESS WEEK BULLETIN ANNOUNCEMENTS
NFP Awareness week is July 23-29 2017. Below are three options for bulletin announcements. Also see the information in the Departmental Section above.
1) "The Church's teaching on marital sexuality is an invitation for men and women--an invitation to let God be God, to receive the gift of God's love and care, and to let this gift inform and transform us, so we may share that love with each other and with the world." With these words, the U.S. Bishops conclude their document, "Married Love and the Gift of Life.". As we celebrate NFP Awareness Week, the Diocesan NFP Office invites you to learn more about God's plan for married love. Check out your parish book rack; visit our website at rcdony.org/nfp; and contact us at aprietropaoli@rcdony.org or at 518-483-0459
2) The Church's support for Natural Family Planning is not based on its being 'natural' as opposed to artificial. Rather. NFP respects the God-given power to love a new life into being even when we are not actively seeking to exercise that power. However, because NFP does not change the human body in any way, people of other faiths have also come to accept and use it from a desire to work in harmony with their bodies. They have also found that it leads couples to show greater attentiveness to and respects for each other." (-- "Married Love and the Gift of Life/USCCB). To learn more, contact the Diocesan NFP Office at aprietropaoli@rcdony.org or at 518-483-0459. Visit us at rcdony.org/nfp. Also check your parish book rack for information.
