ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP

(for the January 14/15 Bulletin)

One resolution that is often included on our new year’s list includes a healthier diet in one way or another. What better starting point for caring for God’s creation this year than taking care of our bodies that are made from and sustained by the earth? What’s on your list?

NEW

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP

(for the January 21/22 Bulletin)

How could taking care of our health be related to caring for our “common home?” Did you know that eating chicken instead of beef saves 2,200 liters of water? (www.thirstforwater.org/water-crisis.html) Heart specialist and Catholic Climate Ambassador, Dr. Gerry Gacioc, notes that what is healthy for our hearts is often also heathy for our planet. This week consider planning a meal around the veggies you are having and then adding a protein choice of meat, fish, cheese or legumes.

Leaving a Legacy: Think about the part you want to play in our parish’s future.  You have the opportunity to support this ministry in many ways.  Naming our parish as a beneficiary in your estate plan or the making of an endowment gift can assure your continued participation in this ministry far into the future. INTERNATIONAL WEEK OF PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY: January 18-25

The theme of this year's Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is "Reconciliation-The Love of Christ Compels Us." (cf. 2 Cor 5:14-20).

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity has a history of over 100 years, in which Christians around the world have taken part in an octave of prayer for visible Christian unity.  By annually observing the WPCU, Christians move toward the fulfillment of Jesus' prayer at the Last Supper "that they all may be one."  (cf. John 17:21).  For more information, including suggestions for observing the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, posters, music and prayercards, scripture readings and reflection questions, a sample prayer service see the USCCB Week of Prayer for Christian Unity Page.
