YOUTH BUSES FOR LIFE: Registration Now Open!
Online registration is now open for the Youth Buses for Life pilgrimage to Washington, DC, for high school students and Virtus-trained adult chaperones to participate in the March for Life. Buses depart the North Country on Thursday, January 23 and return Sunday, January 26, 2020. $200 includes transportation, 3 hotel stays, 3 breakfasts, 2 dinners, 2 lunches, t-shirt, slingbag and an awesome experience! Western bus departs from IHC in Watertown. Northern bus departs from Massena with stops in Canton and Gouverneur. PLATTSBURGH BUS TO WASHINGTON DC: March for Life
There will be a bus going down to Washington DC March for Life from Plattsburgh leaving from Saint Peters at 7:45 p.m. on January 23, 2020. It will return to Plattsburgh on January 24, 2020. The cost is $30 per person. For more information contact: Deacon Randy Smith 518-566-6229.

DIOCESAN YOUTH RALLY: Annual gathering for young people in grades 7 to 12
The Youth office is excited to bring young people together for a celebratory day filled with “God’s All-Encompassing Love”. The theme of “Under The Big Top” sets the tone for a carnival style event with fun games, entertainment, great food, a wonderful resort location, a dynamic speaker and a closing mass offered by Most Reverend Bishop Terry LaValley. This is an all, inclusive event and is made available at the low ticket price of $30.00 per youth through the generous support of the Bishop Fund Appeal and Donor organizations.
The Youth Rally will be held in the High Peaks Resort located at, 2384 Saranac Ave., Lake Placid, New York on April 25, 2020 from 10am to 5pm with closing Mass at 4pm.
This year our Keynote speaker will be, Doug Tooke. Doug Tooke is a dynamic and energetic speaker with more than 20 years in Ministry. Utilizing cinematic storytelling, Doug’s presentations inspire and motivate people to seek a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Also appearing will be the Gratto Fellows Circus Performers showcasing their interactive juggling, unicycling, rope walking, and other feats of daring, bravery and comedic entertainment.
You can also try your skill or luck at one of the Carnival Game tables and we will have great music all day long!

Did you know…the residual effects of having been abused can last a lifetime. Those who have been abused seldom just get over it. The sense of violation goes deep into a person’s psyche and feelings of anger, shame, hurt and betrayal can build long after the abuse has taken place. A starting point for healing can be offered by the diocesan Victims Assistance Coordinator (VAC) who will meet with any and all victims of sexual abuse. Description: Potential Counselors should be 18 years or older, have at least 2 years combined experience as a camp counselor, a participant in a counselor in training program (Teen Vision), or working with youth in a leadership position. An applicant above all should have a love of Jesus and a zeal for sharing their Catholic faith with the youth that attend Camp Guggenheim. FOSTER GRANDPARENT PROGRAM: Volunteering in Local Schools
Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Ogdensburg hosts a Volunteer Program that may interest you. The Foster Grandparent Program. The Corporation for National and Community Service is a federally funded agency that has built volunteer-based programs over 50 years and counting. This program is right in your backyard. The Foster Grandparent Program of Northern New York has a purpose and it is to provide opportunities for low income persons aged 55 and older, to provide person to person services in health, education, and the welfare of children ages 21 and below. Foster Grandparents are placed in a classroom setting with a child or children who are in need of emotional support, development of basic learning skills, to provide friendship, companionship, encouragement, individual attention, and unhurried help. The Foster Grandparent also receives a small non-taxable stipend bi-weekly that cannot be held against any current benefits you may already have and you also get paid mileage for your travel. You receive paid holidays, vacations, sick and personal leave. The program currently has 40 volunteers and serves more than 100 kids per year. “Sometimes when you get to be my age, you wake up and say what good am I” and along came the Foster Grandparent Program that keeps me going!
