RESPECT LIFE SECOND COLLECTION: January 27/28
The Diocese of Ogdensburg Respect Life Second Collection will be held in our parishes in January, commemorating the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision of 1973 which legalized abortion in our nation. In 2018, this collection will be held the weekend of January 27/28. The purpose of the collection is to support & encourage efforts that affirm & promote the respect of human life from fertilization to natural death. Thanks to the generosity of North Country Parishioners, last year’s collection provided 21 grants. Applications and guidelines are available on the Respect Life webpage. Thank you for helping to further prolife efforts in our diocese.

NATIONAL MARRIAGE WEEK: Resources
National Marriage Week USA (February 7th to 14th) is a collaborative campaign to strengthen individual marriages, reduce the divorce rate, and build a culture that fosters strong marriages. We know that marriage greatly benefits children and Prevents poverty.

The Department of Family Life in conjunction with the Offices of Vocations and Evangelization, will present an all-day Life and Family Conference and workshop entitled Marriage: God Calls, We Respond. SURVIVING DIVORCE: 12-week program

The Diocesan Family Life Office is pleased to announce an exciting new ministry that will bring hope and healing to those who have experienced the pain and loneliness of a broken marriage. Surviving Divorce features twelve video presentations that cover topics such as shock and grief, anger and forgiveness, money issues, dealing with children and a former spouse, and annulment and remarriage. This program is for the newly separated and divorced and those still struggling with issues many years later. It will help them find answers to their questions, restore their hope, and begin authentic healing.
The twelve-week program begins on January 25th from 6:30 to 8:30pm at St. Mary’s Church in Canton and will meet weekly in the sacristy. The cost of the program for participants includes the Surviving Divorce Personal Guide and all program materials is $25. VIRTUS FACILITATOR TRAINING
Patti Neal from VIRTUS will be in Ogdensburg on 2/15/18 to conduct facilitator training for anyone who is interested. The training will be from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm in the library in the Bishop Loverde Building. Facilitators conduct VIRTUS awareness training sessions throughout the diocese when needed.

Now that winter is upon us here are some tips for ways to save energy. Consider a whole house humidifier to lower the room temperature about 5 degrees and still stay comfortable. Install reversible ceiling fans or change the settings if you have a reversible fan, in winter, by reversing the fan's directions, you can drive the hot air down the walls from the ceiling to warm the room.

Make a bequest in your Will. Such a gift ensures your lifetime contribution to your parish, Catholic school or other diocesan program or institution’s future work. If you do not have a Will, contact an attorney and write one. Through a bequest in your Will you can leave a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate or residue of your estate. .
