Blogpost: Preparing for Holy Week

Are you ready for Holy Week? Are you looking for a way to enter more deeply into the events of  Palm Sunday and the Holy Triduum of Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter? A lot of times this is done by means of a parish mission or a parish Lenten day of reflection, or perhaps a penance service. Perhaps your parish offers such opportunities in addition to Stations of the Cross, additional time of Eucharistic Adoration and opportunities for accessing the Sacrament of Reconciliation/Penance. If your parish offers such Lenten Opportunities, please make sure to avail yourselves of the graces that these events offer.

Whether your parish offers such opportunities or not, you may also want to avail yourselves of a wonderful resource I recently stumbled upon from the Hobo for Christmeghunter kilmer hobo for christ Podcast by Meg Hunter-Kilmer who is a well knows Catholic speaker, author, itinerant missionary storyteller and evangelist.

On her podcast, there are four episodes from last year which are biblical walks through Jesus’ last week, recordings of what sounds like a parish mission for young people. It is powerful, and I found it deeply impacting my prayer as I listened to each episode. I will link to each episode below, but all episodes of her podcast can be found at https://hoboforchrist.libsyn.com/ or simply look for “Hobo For Christ” in your favorite podcast app to subscribe.

There are three episodes covering Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and a fourth episode, “Preparing for Holy Week with the Saints.”  I hope you will find these talks as beneficial to your spiritual preparation for Holy Week as I did, and I would recommend listening to them in order:

Episode 1: A Biblical Walk through Jesus’s Last Week: Palm Sunday

Diving deep into Scripture, study and meditate on the resurrection of Lazarus, the anointing at Bethany, the entrance into Jerusalem (Palm Sunday), and the cleansing of the Temple.

Episode 2: A Biblical Walk through Jesus’s Last Week: Holy Thursday

Diving deep into Scripture, study and meditate on Judas' betrayal, the foot-washing, the institution of the Eucharist, the agony in the Garden, the arrest of Jesus, and Peter's denial.

Episode 3: A Biblical Walk through Jesus’s Last Week: Good Friday

Diving deep into Scripture, study and meditate on the passion and death of Jesus.

Episode 4: Preparing for Holy Week with the Saints

What's better than a talk on Scripture or a talk on Saints? A talk on Scripture AND Saints!

Have a Blessed Holy Week and Easter!
