Every year we do a blog post of Advent Resource recommendations, and quite a few resources repeat from year to year since, well, they are tried and true.
Some recommendations for this year:
From Ascension Press:
Rejoice! Advent Meditations with the Holy Family : A journal with daily Advent meditations. Each day offers a word, a reflection, a psalm, a reading and prompt for journaling. There are Sunday videos that are available on YouTube (also available as a DVD). There are prayer cards for use with blessing the Advent Wreath and candles, as well as related artwork.
From Word on Fire:
Bishop Barron’s Daily Advent Gospel Reflections includes the full Gospel reading for each day along with a short reflection on the Gospel by Bishop Barron. Each day has reflection questions and space for journaling.
From Liturgical Press:
One of my personal favorites this year is not specifically for Advent, but for the entire liturgical year: 52 Sundays 2021
This is a wonderful way for families to reclaim the Lord’s Day. For each Sunday of the Year, there is a reflection on the Sunday Gospel, exploration of the life of a Saint, suggestion for prayer, and recipes for a Sunday meal and family fun. There are discussion questions about the Gospel and the Saint, a family challenge to put the Gospel into action and lots of fun facts.
From Augustine Institute:
Again, not specifically Advent oriented, but The Search , based on the video series, is available in bulk and would make a wonderful evangelization tool. It offers a good explanation of the faith and would be a wonderful gift not just for the average person in the pew, but for their friends and family who may have stopped practicing the faith.
