Mary Immaculate, our Mother and our Patroness,
we ask you to intercede for us with your Son,
as you did at the wedding in Cana.
Pray for us, loving Mother,
and gain for our diocese, our nation and our world,
for our families and loved ones,
the protection of your Maternal mantle from this dreaded virus.
In this time of trial and testing,
teach all of us to love one another and to be patient and kind.
Help us to bring the peace and healing Presence of Jesus to our land and to our hearts.
We come to you with confidence,
knowing that you are our compassionate mother,
health of the sick and cause of our joy.
Keep us in the embrace of your arms,
Help us always to know the love of your Son, Jesus our Lord.
TIPS ON HOW TO SPOT SPOOFING OR PHISHING SCAM EMAILS: A Reminder from the IT Director
There has been an increase in the number of Spoofing or Phishing emails throughout the diocese. Email spoofing is an email message with a forged header (from) address. The message appears to have originated from a legitimate or familiar source. It is often used to trick people into providing information, giving money, or infecting your computer with a virus. The following are some tips on how to spot a spoofing or phishing email:
- Don’t trust the display name.
- Verify the “from email address”.
- Check for grammatical or spelling mistakes within the email;
- Look at the salutation;
- Never provide personal, bank or credit card information in an email; The Diocese, Priests and others will never ask for money or personal information.
- Beware of urgent or threatening language in subject line;
- Don’t click on attachments or a link;
- Don’t reply to a suspect email;
- If you are unsure, contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call the person or send them a new email to the address that you have in your contacts

ANNUAL COLLECTION: Annual Mother's Day Appeal moved to Father's Day
Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Ogdensburg had delayed the second collection in parishes for the annual Mother's Day Appeal to Father's Day, June 21. GRANT FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES: Attention Pastors
The Diocese of Ogdensburg annually offers two grants of $5,000.00 each to assist the parishes and institutions of the Diocese in providing assistance for people with disabilities.
These funds are made available from the annual contribution of the New York State Knights of Columbus to the Diocese of Ogdensburg. They will be distributed by the diocese on the recommendations of Catholic Charities and the Department of Education.
The criteria for acceptability of the request cover several factors. Improvement in already existing programs or facilities will be considered. Some ideas for funding include: adapting facilities, special equipment, training for personnel, and program development.
It is important to remember that programs which have received funding previously may not apply for the grant for the following three years. Programs/projects must show proof of additional sources of revenue to support the programs/projects.
If you wish to be considered for a grant, please plan your proposal carefully. The grant application may be downloaded HERE.
Applications must be submitted by May 22, 2020. Monies will be allocated after June 5, 2020.
If you have any questions regarding the grant and/or the application please contact email@example.com or call (315) 393-2920 ext. 1411.

WALKING WITH MOMS IN NEED: A YEAR OF SERVICE: A Prayer for Pregnant Mothers
Bishop LaValley, along with the other bishops of the United States, is encouraging the people of the Diocese of Ogdensburg to participate in Walking with Moms in Need: A Year of Service.
This program aims at highlighting the pregnant and parenting moms in our parishes, identifying resources available within local communities, and connecting these women to the resources they need.
While our normal routine and activities have been disrupted, one thing that we can do is pray. Won’t you please join in praying for pregnant and parenting moms every day.
A Prayer for Pregnant Mothers:
O Blessed Mother, you received the good news of the incarnation of Christ, your Son, with faith and trust. Grant your protection to all pregnant mothers facing difficulties.
Guide us as we strive to make our parish communities places of welcome and assistance for mothers in need. Help us become instruments of God’s love and compassion.
Mary, Mother of the Church, graciously help us build a culture of life and a civilization of love, together with all people of good will, to the praise and glory of God, the Creator and lover of life. Amen.

(for the May 16/17 Bulletin)
In the midst of this time like no other, this week we celebrate the 5th Anniversary of Laudato Si:On Care for Our Common Home. This Encyclical is Pope Francis’ message to all of the whole world. “Let ours be a time remembered for the awakening of a new reverence for life, the firm resolve to achieve sustainability, the quickening of the struggle for justice and peace, and the joyful celebration of life.” (Para. #20 7) To learn more check out the YouTube series on Understanding Laudato Si by FrDan Horan, OFM.
(for the May 23/24 Bulletin)
During this month of May Bishop LaValley consecrated our Diocese to St. Joseph and re-consecrated our Diocese to Mary. We are reminded that “Mary, the Mother who cared for Jesus, now cares with maternal affection and pain for the wounded world…At her side in the Holy Family of Nazareth, stands the figure of St. Joseph. He too can teach us how to show care; he can inspire us to work with generosity and tenderness in protecting this world which God has entrusted to us." (Laudato Si, Para. # 241-242) Let us ask Jesus, Mary and Joseph to be with us and guide us to bring a healing touch to the world today.
PLANNED GIVING: Appreciate Offertory Support
Bishop LaValley, our pastors and the Development Office are so grateful of the continued support during this COVID-19 pandemic isolation. Parish Offertory envelopes are being mailed, dropped off and gifts on-line (where offered), It’s Our Church, It’s Our Future Capital Campaign and Bishop’s Fund Appeal gifts and pledge payments continue to come in via mail and on-line as well. As we have not been able to gather together to share our faith, the continued support to stay spiritually engaged and the continued generous financial support from parishioners throughout the Diocese of Ogdensburg has been both noticed and appreciated.
These are parish and other local events that may be of interest to your parishioners. If you would like to share them in your parish bulletin, you can simply cut and paste the text under the "Description."
